Finance Business Partner

Job Description

Website CV-Library

NXTGEN is recruiting a Finance Business Partner for a successful and evolving organisation based in Bury St Edmunds. This Finance Business Partner opportunity is centred on turning financial information into meaningful commercial insight, working directly with operational leaders to improve performance and support better decision-making.

You’ll join a forward-thinking finance team within a complex, multi-site environment. Rather than simply reporting historic results, you’ll help stakeholders understand what is driving performance, identify emerging risks and build realistic plans for the future.

The role

As the Finance Business Partner, you’ll become the key finance contact for several operational areas, building strong relationships and bringing constructive financial challenge to commercial discussions.

Your responsibilities will include:

Partnering with operational leaders to improve financial understanding and accountability

Leading budgets and forecasts for your business areas

Providing clear analysis of revenue, costs, margins and operational performance

Identifying financial risks, trends and commercial opportunities

Challenging assumptions and supporting stakeholders to develop realistic plans

Producing meaningful reporting and presenting the story behind the numbers

Developing financial models and scenario analysis

Supporting business cases, investment decisions and strategic projects

Monitoring performance against agreed targets and recommending corrective action

Improving the quality and consistency of operational data

Working with the wider finance team to ensure reporting remains accurate

Developing KPIs that provide greater visibility over business performance

Supporting process improvements across finance and operations

What are we looking for?

The successful Finance Business Partner will be a qualified or experienced accountant with a strong commercial mindset and the confidence to influence stakeholders at different levels. You’ll understand the fundamentals of financial reporting but be most interested in using that information to shape future performance.

You may already be working in a business-partnering position or operating as a commercially focused Management Accountant and ready to take the next step. Experience within a multi-site, manufacturing, logistics, services or operationally complex environment would be beneficial, although candidates from other sectors will be considered.

This Finance Business Partner opportunity would suit someone who:

Is ACCA, ACA or CIMA qualified, or has equivalent commercial finance experience

Has experience supporting budgets, forecasts and performance reviews

Can interpret complex information and communicate it clearly

Is comfortable challenging senior stakeholders constructively

Can build credibility with operational and non-finance teams

Enjoys understanding how a business works beyond the finance function

Has strong Excel, analytical and financial modelling skills

Can balance commercial thinking with attention to detail

Is proactive and willing to investigate the reasons behind financial performance

This is an excellent opportunity to move into a genuinely influential position where your analysis will directly shape operational and commercial decisions. You’ll gain exposure to senior leadership, varied business areas and projects that extend well beyond the traditional month-end cycle.
