About the Business

A fantastic opportunity to join a well-established, multi-sector family company with a larger logistics element, based in Halesowen, as a Finance Director, paying £80,000 – £120,000 per annum. As the senior finance lead for the group, you'll be the go-to adviser for the family and their Managing Director, with real ownership of the entire finance function. Main Duties:

As a Finance Director, your main duties include:

Partnering closely with the Managing Director and shareholders as their lead finance adviser, attending Board meetings and presenting the numbers

Setting and driving the group's financial strategy, covering growth plans, investment in sites, and any acquisitions or disposals

Leading, coaching and motivating a finance team, with clear expectations, defining who owns what and planning for succession

Owning the monthly management accounts for every entity and for the consolidated group, backed by meaningful KPI and site-level reporting

Producing the statutory accounts at year end and running the relationship with the external auditors

Overseeing intercompany balances, recharges and the group consolidation, ensuring everything ties out across the entities

Keeping a robust control framework in place across site cash handling, banking, income streams and reconciliations

Getting the most out of SAP Business One so the family has clear, up-to-date visibility of how each site and asset is performing

Running the yearly budgeting process and regular reforecasts, with cash flow projections covering every part of the group

Managing relationships with the banks, along with facilities, covenants and the funding each business needs

Giving operational teams commercial support and challenge on site performance, pricing, staffing levels and capital spend

Preparing business cases and investment appraisals to support new sites, refurbishments, equipment and property projects

Overseeing all tax matters, from corporation tax and VAT through to sector-specific duties, working alongside external advisers

Making sure the group meets its regulatory licensing obligations, including the preparation of regulatory returns and financial submissions

Looking after the finances of the group's property interests, from rents, service charges and lease events through to valuations and property taxes

The role is based in Halesowen, with parking provided. You'll be the senior finance voice in the business, working hand in hand with the Managing Director and shareholders in a close-knit, supportive environment. It's a hands-on role with genuine scope to make your mark across strategy, reporting and control, in a business that values long-term relationships and sound advice.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

Essential

ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified – essential

Proven experience at Finance Director level, or as a senior Financial Controller ready to step up

Experience of group consolidation, intercompany and reporting across multiple entities

Strong people leadership, with a track record of coaching finance teams, delegating well and raising standards

Sound commercial judgement and the credibility to advise shareholders, and to challenge them when it matters

Desirable

SAP Business One experience, though a comparable ERP and the ability to pick it up quickly will be considered

A practical style, comfortable getting stuck into the detail while also setting the strategy

A discreet, personable approach that earns trust and builds lasting relationships with shareholders

Well organised and decisive, keeping a cool head and a sharp eye for accuracy under pressure
