Location: Stalham, Norfolk

Sector: Agricultural Machinery Manufacturing

Role Type: Full‑time

A long‑established British manufacturer is entering a pivotal phase of development and modernisation. We’re looking for a commercially minded Financial Controller who can take full ownership of the finance function while helping build stronger management information, better systems and more effective decision‑making across the business.

This is a broad, hands‑on role that goes far beyond traditional accounting. You’ll ensure financial accuracy and control, improve processes, interrogate manufacturing costs, and work closely with the leadership team to translate financial data into clear, actionable insight.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will:

Own the integrity and accuracy of financial records

Oversee day‑to‑day finance operations and statutory requirements

Strengthen cashflow forecasting, working capital management and financial visibility

Produce timely management accounts and meaningful reporting

Build reliable costing, margin and profitability insight across machines, products and jobs

Improve ERP/MRP utilisation and reduce manual processes

Partner with managers across sales, purchasing, engineering, production and service

Provide constructive challenge and help build a culture of better financial understanding

About You

You’re a qualified accountant with strong financial fundamentals and a commercially curious mindset. You want to understand why the numbers look the way they do — and what the business should do about it.

You’ll bring:

Experience in management accounting or financial control

Background in manufacturing, engineering or product‑based environments

Strong costing, inventory, WIP and overhead recovery knowledge

Excellent cashflow and working‑capital management skills

Confidence producing useful management accounts and operational MI

ERP/MRP experience (Sightline advantageous but not essential)

The ability to turn data into practical recommendations

A hands‑on, problem‑solving approach and strong stakeholder communication

What Success Looks Like

Within your first year, you’ll help establish:

Trusted, timely financial information

Clear cashflow and working‑capital visibility

Disciplined debtor and creditor management

Reliable monthly management reporting

Meaningful profitability insight

Stronger costing and inventory control

Improved ERP/MRP utilisation

More resilient finance processes

Better financial understanding across the management team

Why This Role Matters

This is not a role where you simply inherit a mature finance function. You’ll shape how the business uses information, improve systems and processes, and directly influence commercial performance. For someone who enjoys building better ways of working and seeing the impact of their decisions, this is a rare opportunity to make a genuine difference
